This past year the City Council completed a comprehensive review of the Animal Control Section of the City Code. As a result, certain revisions were implemented in the Animal Control Section. One of these changes was the passage of a “Tethering Ordinance” by the City Council on April 15, 2008. The effective date was delayed until November 1, 2008 to allow pet owners time to comply with the requirements of the ordinance.
Pet owners needing financial assistance in obtaining dog runs or overhead trollies to comply with the “No Tethering Law” may send a request to the Wellington Humane Society; P. O. Box #494; Wellington, Ks. 67152. As funds are available, assistance will be offered by the local organization to those owners with the greatest need.

Donations to the Wellington Humane Society, to assist in purchasing runs, panels or trollies for those pets currently living on a chain would be greatly appreciated.
