We provide emergency medical services for the citizens of Wellington, Oxford, Mayfield, and many other smaller communities here in South Central Sumner County totaling 442 square miles.
The City of Wellington utilizes a Combination Department, which means we provide both Fire and Medical services. Wellington has been a combined department since Jan. 1, 1970, this combination of services was very progressive and among the earliest in Kansas.
The Wellington Fire / EMS Department is currently providing Type 2(Basic Life Support) services with Type 1(Advanced Life Support) capabilities, we have 10 EMT-B's and 6 MICT's. The service maintains three ambulances, all of which are equipped to provide Advanced Life Support. Wellington Fire/EMS also utilizes 2 Training Officers to maintain a continuing education program to keep all EMTs and MICTs up to current practices and recertification standards.
