Wellington Skateboarding Laws

2003 Standard Traffic Ordinance states:

Sec 136. Use of Coasters, Roller Skates or Similar Devices Restricted.
"No person upon roller skates, or riding in and by means of any coaster, toy vehicle, or similar device, shall go upon any roadway except while crossing a street at a crosswalk and except upon streets set aside as play streets".

Wellington City Ordinance 14-205 (d)

"No person shall ride skateboards, skates, coasters, or similar devices upon any sidewalk in the area bounded by and including sidewalks on the west side of Jefferson Ave, the south side of Third (3rd) street, the east side of "C" street and the north side of Eleventh (11th) Street. Nothing herein contained shall be constructed to prohibit the use of self-propelled wheel chairs or carts by person, who are handicapped or are convalescing".
