Responsibilities:
The Combined Trade Board was created in 2005 at which time
the Board of Electricians, Board of Examiners of Plumbers, and
the Building Board of Examiners and Appeals were dissolved
into one board. It is the duty of the Board to act as an
arbitration board in deciding any questions that may arise
between the Authority having jurisdiction for inspections
(Building Inspector) and any person, firm or corporation. The
decisions of the Board in such matters shall be final, unless an
appeal, in writing, is taken to the Governing Body of the City.
The Board determines the methods and qualifications for the
contractors in the community. It is also the duty of the Board to
determine the suitability of alternate materials and methods of
construction and to provide reasonable interpretations of Codes
governing the building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing
trades.
Per Ordinance No. 4078, adopted March 1, 2011,
The combined trade board shall consist of eleven members. One
member shall be a licensed architect or engineer, two shall be
building contractors, two shall be electrical contractors, two shall be
mechanical contractors, two shall be plumbing contractors, and the
final two members shall be residents at-large.
Any member of the board may be removed by the city manager, at
his discretion, for misfeasance, nonfeasance, or malfeasance, but
only after he conducts an inquiry into any complaint about a
member. Furthermore, if any member misses three or more
consecutive meetings without good cause, his position shall be
deemed vacated.
