Public Works Staff have been receiving inquiries recently regarding incorrect information people are obtaining on our Recycling Center hours and items that are accepted. A Google search for Wellington recycling will bring up various websites, including www.kansasrecycles.org, that may not always contain the most up-to-date and accurate information. Please visit www.cityofwellington.net for current and accurate information on City Departments and facility operations. City Staff strives to provide beneficial information through multiple media releases and regular posting/updating on the City’s website. If you have any additional questions, always feel free to contact us by telephone. All Department contact information is listed on each webpage and Staff will be happy to answer questions or assist you with obtaining information.
Our Recycling Center is located at 217 N. Jefferson Avenue in Wellington, KS. Hours of operation are as follows:
Mondays ~ 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Saturdays ~ 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Noon)
The following items are currently being accepted and should be sorted in the categories listed:
#1 Plastic - water/soda bottles, salad dressing bottles, container lids (please remove container lids from the containers to maximize the baling process)
Magazines - magazines, catalogs, postcard type mailers, waxy mail/newspaper inserts
White office paper - white paper with black ink only
Mixed paper - colored paper, envelopes, phone books
Corrugated cardboard - shipping boxes, shoe boxes
Chipboard cardboard - food & canned beverage boxes (no orange juice containers or juice boxes as they have a thick wax coating)
Newspaper
Aluminum cans
Tin cans
