Pls see attached Media Release about reports from utility customers receiving scam calls about utility accounts.
The City has been contacted by a number of utility customers this afternoon who have reported receiving automated phone calls about their utility account. The automated call informs the customer that their account is delinquent and the service is subject to disconnect. The call provides an option to press a number to talk to a representative.
These calls are NOT being made by the City of Wellington, nor by anyone on behalf of the City. It is recommended you do not provide any information to any person on these calls.
