Re: Water Distribution for August 9, 2023
The Sumner County Board of Commissioners and the City of Wellington continue to provide bottled water to residents. On August 9, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., residents can pick up bottled water at Wellington Recycling Center. There is a limit of one (1) case per vehicle, and households with children under six will receive priority.
Wellington Recycling Center
217 N. Jefferson Ave, Wellington, KS 67152
Please enter off of Jefferson between the Recycling Center and the library and follow directions given by staff upon entering.
Thank you to our state, nonprofit, and business partners for the water donations.
Wellington Water Production staff has adjusted the treatment strategy to lower the algae levels in the water supply. Samples are being collected to ensure microcystins levels consistently remain below the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency 10-day Health Advisory level of 0.3 micrograms. The water remains safe for adults and can be used for domestic purposes like cleaning, bathing, and cooking. It is recommended that children under six and infants refrain from drinking water. It is also recommended not to boil the water until further notice.
The City of Wellington will inform citizens of any new developments on water distribution and the water health advisory. Visit http://cityofwellington.net or https://www.facebook.com/cityofwellington for the latest information.
