Re: Drinking Water Health Advisory – Rescinded
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment rescinded the drinking water advisory for the City of Wellington. Laboratory testing indicates the cyanotoxin concentration is below the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 10-day Health Advisory levels of 0.3 micrograms per liter of microcystins for bottle-fed infants and children under 6 years old. Wholesale customers of the City of Wellington are advised to continue with Health Advisory guidelines.
Additional samples will be collected and sent to the laboratory for analysis to confirm the microcystins levels consistently remain below the EPA 10-day Health Advisory level of 0.3 micrograms per liter for bottle-fed infants and children under 6 years old in drinking water delivered to consumers.
The City of Wellington is suspending the distribution of bottled water at this time. The City wishes to thank its county, state, nonprofit, and business partners for the water donations.
The City of Wellington will inform citizens of any new developments the water health advisory. Visit http://cityofwellington.net or https://www.facebook.com/cityofwellington for the latest information.
