Re:       Public Service Announcement – City Council Vacancy

Applications for a vacancy on the City Council will be accepted through December 28, 2023. The appointment is for the remainder of a term, ending on December 2, 2025. Council meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Council member positions are at-large for the City.

 The City Council established a procedure for filling vacancies on the governing body by adopting Resolution No. 5471. When a vacancy occurs, a public notice announcing a fifteen (15) day application period for the position will be circulated. The governing body shall meet and review all applications submitted by eligible electors for the vacant position with no binding action taken. At the first regular meeting of the Governing Body, after review of the applications, the Mayor and City Council shall appoint an applicant to fill the vacant council member position for the balance of the unexpired term.

 The Governing Body asks that anyone interested in being considered for appointment to the position submit an application to the City Clerk's or City Manager's Office by December 28, 2023. The application form is available at City Hall or on the City website, www.city of wellington.net. Please note the person appointed to this position must be a qualified elector of the City of Wellington.

 Applications for a council member vacancy are deemed public information and will be available to the media and the public upon request.
